FDA’s reason for the recall is based on a routine sampling program which revealed that the products contained the bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious, life-threatening, infections to people with weakened immune systems. Even healthy people can suffer from diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, stiffness, severe headache, and high fever. Among pregnant women this bacteria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
