Ford Power Stroke

Ford Diesel Problems

Currently there is an investigation into consumer complaints concerning fuel tank problems with certain Ford diesel engines.

The effected engines are the Power Stroke Diesel Engines 6.0 & 7.3 found in 2003-2008 Ford trucks & vans including:

  • Ford F-150
  • Ford F-250
  • Ford F-350
  • Ford F-450
  • Ford F-550
  • Ford Excursion

Symptoms of engine problems and common complaints include:

  • Engine Dies
  • Rough Idle
  • Engine Shutdown
  • Stalling
  • Hard Start
  • Hard Shift
  • Power Loss / No power
  • Hesitates / Surges / Bucks / Jerks

The cause of the problems is believed to be that the lining of the fuel tank flakes off (delaminates) causing the fuel lines and injectors to be clogged with the residue.

The damage is many times irreversible and the rare repair is not covered under warranty typically costing hundred of dollars.
