Darvocet

Darvocet was a popular mild painkiller prescribed by physicians for many years.  Patients were given the drug for a variety of issues and were unaware of the severe side effects that could occur.  The company, known as Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, produced the brand name Darvocet.  Although there were several other companies who also manufactured the drug, the generic forms were made from the main ingredient propoxyphene and many distributors are named as defendants in the several Darvocet lawsuits.  Had patients realized the painkiller could cause serious heart problems and even liver disease, many would have found an alternative to the drug Darvocet.  Unfortunately many people have been affected by addictions, overdose, severe heart problems and even accidental death.

Most complaints that are coming forth today are that Darvocet causes heart problems.  Patients who have never experienced heart problems, or have any history of heart issues, are suffering from side effects caused by the drug.

The mild Darvocet side effects include:

  • Dizziness/Drowsiness
  • Lightheaded
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Headache

More serious side effects include:

  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Tightness in the chest
  • Rash, itching, hives

Even before the Darvocet lawsuits were filed, the FDA was aware that this painkiller could cause life threatening heart problems.  Back in the 1970′s there were problems with the drug and other countries were even recalling Darvocet for this reason.  Although much of the research was based on animals given a lethal dose of the drug, human studies came from patients who were victims of overdose.  Either way, the information was available that the drug Darvocet causes heart problems.  The drug was finally taken off the market in November 2010, although this is much too late for the people who have been devastated by Darvocet.

Medical professionals are now monitoring patients who were prescribed Darvocet and may have become addicted to the drug.  Reviewing EKG results have shown that patients are prone to cardiac arrest, which could potentially be fatal.  Another side effect includes Darvocet and liver disease.  Not only will patients need to be on the look out for heart arrhythmia they need to be aware of liver function and potential problems.

If you or someone you love took Darvocet in the past and has suffered from life threatening side effects, you need to contact Darvocet lawsuit attorneys who want to help.  Patients trust doctors to prescribe medication that is safe and will help them deal with medical problems.  The job of the FDA is to make sure the pharmaceuticals being manufactured and marketed are safe.  You deserve compensation for the possible life long heart problems or liver disease that is associated with the drug Darvocet or the generic variations.  Do not let another day go by before you contact an attorney who is experienced with Darvocet lawsuits and can help you get the money you deserve.   Fill out the form and you will be on your way to making sure the drug companies are held responsible for changing your life forever.
