Background of Citalopram and Finasteride by Greenstone
Citalopram, by Greenstone LLC, is used to treat depression and Finasteride is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
FDA Alert on Citalopram and Finasteride by Greenstone
FDA’s reason for the recall is that bottles labeled as Citalopram may contain Finasteride. Several severe side effects may occur to patients who discontinue Citalopram and women, who are or plan to become pregnant should not take Finasteride because it can cause abnormalities to the male fetus.
The affected drugs are Citalopram 10mg Tablets (100-count bottle) and Finasteride 5mg Tablets (90-count bottle).
