Byetta has not been recalled. The FDA issued two Healthcare Alerts (10/2007 & 08/2008) regarding the 30 cases of acute pancreatitis in patients taking Byetta.
In their most recent alert the FDA has told healthcare professionals to advise Byetta patients to seek emergency services if they are experiencing persistent unexplained abdominal pain. This pain could be a sign of acute acute hemorrhagic and/or necrotizing pancreatitis.
